There is more to life than increasing its speed." —Mahatma Gandhi
Good morning,
There is more to life than just working and making money. You must have balance. You must make time for family and Friends. You must make time to be alone with yourself. A great way to take advantage of being alone, reducing stress and contemplate on your day, is to start a meditation routine.
Meditation is a great way to put focus in your life. It reduces stress, it even helps with healing your physical body, gives you energy and so much more benefits. I learned about meditation when I started practicing Martial Arts. I practice meditation along side with Karate.
It helps me perform anything at a higher level, it improves reaction time, it lowers your blood pressure, it reduces headaches and so much more.
One way to meditate is to sit on the floor or chair. You can cross your legs if your sitting on the floor or rest both feet flat on the floor if your sitting in a chair. Just make sure you are in a relaxed position. Close your eyes, Relax every muscle in the body. Take three deep breaths in and out. One breath in and out count as one.
Then breath normally, count in your head "one" when you breath in, then "two" when you breath out and so on until you reach ten. You should only be concentrating on your breathing.
Then count every other breath in, until you reach ten. After the breathing exercises, you want to just sit still for about 10 - 15 minutes. When you first start out, 10 minutes seems like along time. It might seem harder than you think. But if you meditate consistently, you will work your way to doing it. While your sitting still, try to have a blank mind. Not thinking of anything. There will be thoughts that come up, but just let them go. If it helps you can think of one thing to concentrate on. Also while sitting still meditating, you might flinch every once in a while. That's pretty normal. That means your doing it right.
Try to incorporate meditation into your daily routine. Once in the morning and once in the evening. You'll notice yourself being able to concentrate better and be more productive and healthier. You'll feel more refreshed.
Until next time, always be aware of your decisions that shape your destiny!
